Retiring Players
What happens when a player retires?
If a player intends to retire, he will indicate his intentions at the start of the season. Retiring players play for one last season before leaving their club at the end of the season.
In the premier games teams are compensated by approximately 50% of the players value when the player retires at the end of the season. It is up to clubs to replace players through their youth facilities or the transfer market.
In the free games there is no youth facility and so this way of bringing new players into the game is not available. In the free games only, retiring players are replaced by a new youth player (the club gets no cash compensation). This new youth player starts in the same team at the beginning of the following season. The stats of the replacement player are random but always less than that of the retiring player. The new player will also play in the same position as the retired one, and his nationality will be the same as the country your team plays in.
